About Fios Feasa
Fios Feasa is a multimedia software developer and language consultancy firm based in the heart of the Gaeltacht, that is, the Irish-speaking region of Ireland.
It was founded in 1997 to publish quality multimedia products that wed traditional Irish culture and language with state-of-the-art technology. Since then, it has aquired an excellent reputation for the exellence of its products and services.
To date, the company has published 11 titles on CD-ROM, including titles for both children and adults, and for both learners of Irish and native speakers. Primary schools in Ireland are the main customer for these CD-ROMs, but many of them have been sold to individuals both in Ireland and abroad. Additionally, Fios Feasa does multimedia work for other clients, such as An Gúm and Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne.
Fios Feasa also provides a wide range of language services as well. We have translated hundreds of thousands of words, and we provide interpretation services to the European Parliament and to Irish institutions. We provide training to third level students, to state organisations, and to private institutions, in a wide range of subjects: computing and multimedia for minority languages, language awareness, bilingual design, and more. We provide consultancy services: we have prepared language plans and language impact statements for private companies, and we have also conducted a number of studies on aspects of the use of the Irish language.
Ogham is a bilingual interactive multimedia CD-ROM on ogham writing with a corpus of over 350 ogham stones from Ireland and Britain.
